rvs platform and installation support
rvs is distributed as a self-contained command-line application. Installers
select the native release for the current platform and keep the installation on
its selected compatibility series.
Install rvs
The installers select the native build for the current operating system and processor. A system Python is not required.

rvs update
rvs update --applyrvs update checks the current compatibility series. Add --apply to install after review. APT installations delegate to APT; portable Linux, Alpine, macOS, and Windows installations authenticate, stage, health-check, and activate the matching bundle. Nix installations delegate replacement to Nix.
rvs update --to SERIES previews a newer compatibility series. Add --apply to switch after confirmation. --yes is valid only with --apply.
Homebrew and WinGet support becomes generally available only when the matching versioned package is present in the external catalog. Use the shell or PowerShell installer when it is not.
See rvs release series before moving between compatibility series.
